SOFT FRONT SLOW FLOW
Gently open the front body from toes to crown with an emphasis on the psoas, chest, and shoulders to allow more space to soften and meet the world. The idea of “Strong back, Soft Front” was developed by Joan Halifax, a Zen Buddhist priest. Throughout our lives, for so many reasons, many of us have developed a hard front, defending ourselves against the world, and a soft back, unsure of our own boundaries. In this class, we’ll reset our strong back—stability and integrity—to provide the support we need to explore and nourish a softer front.

“A wild heart is the ability to be tough and tender, excited and scared, brave and afraid—all in the same moment. It's showing up in our vulnerability and our courage, being both fierce and kind.” —Brené Brown
Join us for a series of slow flow and restorative practices—coupled with meditations— that will help us create a solid container in which we can ease into our own vulnerability and courage, making room to release our wild heart—joyful, brave, and unabashed.
Each class in this series will build upon the previous practice, inviting us to return deeper into our bodies to create a sense of home. Through core, hip, and spine strengtheners, we’ll cultivate the capacity to uphold ourselves. Rooted and grounded, we’ll create fluidity in our psoas, chest, and shoulders with the intention of softening open to things as they really are.
We’ll meet our tension with compassionate awareness through yin and restorative poses coupled with deep listening practices. And the series will set us up for expansive restorative chest openers to make room in our hearts for the ever-new now, so we can show up in our lives with more mindfulness, wisdom, and grace.
We are also now offering an Online Studio Membership that offers extended access to recordings from this series—and an entire library of classes for only $55 a month. Cancel anytime. Learn more here.
PAIR THIS PRACTICE WITH MY FREE WEEKLY DEEP LISTENING MEDITATION FRIDAYS AT 9:30 AM ET.
